Students and staff in Rochester Public Schools wore their best and craziest hats Thursday as day four of Tri-City Career Spirit Week took its Hats Off to Career Awareness.
Announcements and activities on Thursday focused on available career paths and types of careers that students can pursue, and on the hats worn by workers in various fields such as firefighters, police, nurses and construction workers.
Each day this week will have a different theme and will begin with announcements focused on Career Technical Education, as well as age-appropriate activities and exercises to follow.
Friday is the final day of Tri-City Career Spirit Week, with students encouraged to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up and graduate. The day’s announcements and activities will encourage students to focus on goals and careers they are interested in pursuing.
Rochester Mayor Paul Callaghan has declared this week Career Technical Education Week in the City of Rochester in recognition of the value that CTE holds for all grade levels and the entire community.
The week-long focus on Career Technical Education is being conducted in conjunction with neighboring school districts in Dover and Somersworth, and is part of Rochester Public School’s move to begin introducing students to Career Technical Education at all grade levels, instead of in just middle school and high school.
