Spaulding High School Teacher Named as Finalist for NH Teacher of the Year
Superintendent Kyle Repucci and R.W. Creteau Regional Technology Center Director Michele Halligan-Foley are pleased to announce that a Spaulding High School teacher is a finalist for 2021 Teacher of the Year.
Annually, the New Hampshire Department of Education names a Teacher of the Year to honor the engaging and impactful work done by educators throughout the state. The Teacher of the Year represents and honors all the excellent educators in the state.
Jay Keough, who teaches criminal justice at the R.W. Creteau Regional Technology Center, is one of three finalists being considered for the honor this year, who were selected from a group of 30 nominees.
“I’m incredibly honored to be named a finalist for Teacher of the Year,” Keough said. “I’m lucky to work in a field that helps students explore future career opportunities in a hands-on way, and to have such a strong and supportive community here in Rochester. This is a reflection of the incredible work that all the staff and students in the district have done and will continue to do.”
Keough began teaching criminal justice at the R.W. Creteau Regional Technology Center in August 2016. Prior to that, he served as a police officer for the United States Air Force for 21 years.
“Jay has shown incredible talent and skill working with students in his criminal justice classes,” Halligan-Foley said. “He’s developed a reputation as a thoughtful, engaging teacher and made himself a highly respected member of our team. This recognition is well-deserved and I couldn’t be more proud to see him named as a finalist.”
“Jay has proven himself to be a dedicated educator, using innovative and creative approaches for his lessons,” Superintendent Repucci said. “Students are given incredible insight into the criminal justice field in class in a way that is both educational and engaging. We’re so proud of his accomplishments and to have him on our team.”
The 2021 Teacher of the Year will be announced later this fall. That individual will represent New Hampshire in the National Teacher of the Year program, and will be honored at the NHDOE’s annual Celebrating Leadership in Education Awards.

Holy Rosary Credit Union Donates Book by Rochester Elementary School Teacher to Local Schools and Businesses
The Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) has donated copies of the book “Amazing Masks” written by William Allen School second grade teacher Jennifer Brock to Rochester elementary schools as well as local pediatric offices, dentists, daycares, and the Rochester Public Library.
“The goal of ‘Amazing Masks’ is to help ensure that our most precious resource, our children, are as emotionally prepared as possible as they enter the upcoming school year and the new normal of wearing masks,” Brock said. “The hope is this book will ease anxiety, create smiles and happiness, and make the return to school a little easier. We are thrilled at the support we have received from HRCU. We cannot thank them enough for supporting our communities.”
Along with the books to the Rochester School District, HRCU also donated Staples gift cards to be used to provide school supplies for students that may be in need.
“As the Superintendent of Schools in Rochester, I am so fortunate to have community partners like HRCU. Their support has never waned even during the pandemic and our school community is deeply appreciative of HRCU’s constant support to our students, staff and families,” Superintendent Kyle Repucci said.
Todd Civin, of Civin Media Relations and Publishing Services, the publisher of Amazing Masks, also donated backpacks with supplies through the program “KushCares Children in the Community”.
“I am thrilled to find a company like HRCU to supplement what we are doing for children in Southern New Hampshire,” said Civin, who serves as the Director for KushCares Children in the Community. “To work with a group who has similar goals regarding children in our communities is especially exciting. We hope to partner on additional joint ventures in the future.”
You can purchase your own copy of “Amazing Masks” here.
